CRH Africa Automotive as a manufacturer and assembly of pressed components to the automotive industry, the organization recognizes its Health, Safety and Environmental responsibilities for the activities carried out on-site. These activities will be carried out with due consideration for the protection of the wider environment, its employees, stakeholders and neighboring communities. It is committed to comply with all applicable Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and other requirements at local, regional and national level as a minimum performance, and to continually improve Health, Safety and Environmental performance through appropriate initiatives, controls, provisions of resources and training of employees.

The scope of the CRH Africa Automotive Health, Safety and Environmental management system is applicable to the physical boundaries of the site at, No. 02 Cnr Newbolt and Dudley Street, Korsten Port Elizabeth and includes the Health, Safety and Environmental risks and opportunities of its activities and products that it can control and those that it can influence, and their associated potential Health, Safety and Environmental risks and opportunities, considering a life cycle perspective.

The management team endorses this policy and ensures it is compatible with the context and strategic direction of the company and will support the climate change agenda, quantify greenhouse gas emissions and promote the dissemination of good practices in the environmental management program. The management team is accountable for the effectiveness of the environmental management system and is responsible for ensuring that it is communicated, understood, implemented, and maintained at all levels within the company and ultimately, that it achieves its intended outcomes.

The management team promotes and is committed to the continual improvement of the Health, Safety and Environmental management system to enhance Health, Safety and Environmental performance. This is facilitated through the setting of documented HSE objectives based on our significant HSE risks and Environmental aspects, compliance obligations and considering our risks and opportunities for each. Action plans have been set to achieve objectives and are maintained as part of the Health, Safety and Environmental management system internal auditing, monitoring and management review processes.

The management team is committed to ensuring that the company:

• Complies with all legal obligations, where these relate to our HSE risks.
• Implement controls to reduce injuries, incidents, and occupational illnesses.
• Provides employees and others with the resources needed for the HSE management system, including support, direction, and encouragement to fulfil the requirements.
• Maintain our registration to the Environmental management standard ISO 14001 :2015 as defined within the scope of our environmental management system.
• Maintain a Health and Safety management system that complies with the requirements of ISO 45001 :2018 as defined within the scope of our Health and Safety management system.
• Continuously review the Health, Safety and Environmental standards in accordance with the business strategic objectives.
• Ensure that all employees receive the necessary training and understanding of the standards set.
• Identify, and include resources from projects on initiatives designed to improve or enhance Health, Safety and Environmental performance.
• Identify, assess, and manage risks to the environment, employees, customers, contractors, and all other persons affected by our activities.
• Minimises waste to landfill by reducing our waste generation and by segregation and recycling waste, where operationally feasible.
• Use energy, water, materials, and other resources as efficiently as possible.
• Implement noise monitoring and control methods, techniques, and technologies, according to economic and operational considerations.
• Ensures that environmental standards are considered in the procurement of goods and services.
• Measures its environmental performance against set objectives.Protecting and ensuring the welfare of animals with the primary goal of the prevention of cruelty and unnecessary suffering of animals.
• Respect the natural environment and apply a precautionary approach to environmental challenges.
• Implement measures to prevent the pollution of soil, air and water quality.
• Ensure duty of care towards all components of biodiversity, for thriving people and nature.

This policy shall be communicated to all employees on site, including those working on behalf of the organization and will be made available to the public upon request. This policy will be reviewed annually and, where deemed necessary, will be amended and re-issued.
